Modular Home Permit and
Inspection Process
Permit Submission Requirements
Completed Modular Home Permit Application.
Attach a completed Residential Development Order from
Jackson County
Community Development ($25.00) and a copy of
the recorded land deed. (For questions regarding your Development Order,
contact Community Development at 850-482-9637)
This step is not required if your home is going to be placed inside the
city limits, but you must obtain a development order from the City.
Complete a 911-Addressing form and turn it into the Building Department. (If you have questions on this form, please contact Jackson County E-911 by email or phone, 850-482-9683)
If you need a septic system, or have an existing tank, you must apply for a permit from the Jackson County Health Department Division of Environmental Health. The cost for a permit will be $305.00 for a new tank, $85.00 for an existing tank, or $175.00 for a repair permit. (Environmental Health can be reached at 850-482-9227.)
Two (2) set of Department of
Community Affairs (DCA) approved plans to include:
● Footer / Foundation Layout
● Floor Plan
● Wind Load Requirements
A Licensed Electrical Contractor or the Home Owner must purchase an Electrical permit for $40.00, after the development order has been approved.
Permit Fee Schedule

| $1,000 and less | No fee unless inspection required, $20.00 for each inspection |
| $1,000.01 - $50,000.00 | $15.00 for the first $1,000, plus $6.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to include $50,000. |
| $50,000.01 - $100,000.00 | $260.00 for the first $50,000, plus $5.50 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to include $100,000. |
| $100,000.01 - $500,000.00 | $460.00 for the first $500,000, plus $4.50 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof to include $500,000. |
| $500,000.01 and up | $1,660.00 for first $500,000, plus $4.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof. |
Any inspection requests called in and not ready when inspector gets to site or those that fail initial inspection will require reinspection. A reinspection fee of $20.00 will be charged on all reinspection(s), up to a maximum of $80.00. Fee must be paid prior to a reinspection being made. Reinspection requests will be handled in the same manner as the initial inspection request, with the exception that you will be identify it as a reinspection.
A fee of 1% per square foot Heated and Cooled will also be charged for State Surcharge Fee.
